What’s in the pipeline
The Rakytovce district is continuing to improve its transport infrastructure. The main focus is on the safety of pedestrians, particularly children on their way to school and older people walking along the main road and around bus stops.
The works follow on from previous improvements to public spaces and were discussed at a meeting of the Rakytovce District Citizens’ Council.
Pedestrian crossings
New pedestrian crossings will be installed at the following locations:
- The entrance to Rakytovce from Banská Bystrica
- The junction with the A66 first-class road
- The square by the shop with a safety island
- At the entrance from Badin
The crossings will include horizontal and vertical road markings, lighting, kerb modifications to ensure accessibility, and guide features for the visually impaired.
Speed limit
A speed limit of 30 km/h is being introduced in the village ahead of the crossings. The aim is to reduce the speed of vehicles in areas with the highest pedestrian traffic.
Timeline and restrictions during the works
- Start of works: 1 August 2026
- Expected completion: 30 September 2026
- Carried out by: Regional Road Administration and the City of Banská Bystrica
- Funding: Banská Bystrica Higher Territorial Unit and the City of Banská Bystrica
