How to apply
A practical overview of what you need to sort out as a new resident of Rakytovce — a district of Banská Bystrica.
Registering permanent residence
You must register your permanent residence in person at Banská Bystrica Town Hall — Registry Office and Residence Registration Desk, ground floor on the left. Registration is free of charge and can be completed whilst you wait.
- If you are the owner: a valid identity card (the office will verify the title deed itself)
- If you are not the owner: a valid identity card + the owner’s written consent with a notarised signature (or the owner may attend in person)
During the summer (1 July – 31 August), office hours are adjusted — Wednesdays until 4.00 pm.

Marius Pedersen, a. s. is responsible for ordering bins and organising the collection schedule on behalf of the City of Banská Bystrica.
- Black bin, 120/240 l — household waste (twice a month)
- 120-litre yellow bags — plastics, metals, Tetra Paks (once every 4 weeks)
- Blue bin, 240 litres — paper (once every 8 weeks)
- 240-litre brown bin — organic waste: March–November every Monday, December–February twice a month
Public transport and buses
There are two bus routes running from Rakytovce to the centre of Banská Bystrica.
- Route 21 (DPMBB public transport) — Rakytovce, sports ground ↔ Pieninská, via the centre of Banská Bystrica (15–18 mins)
- Route 602 (SAD Zvolen) — BB ↔ Horné Pršany/Badín ↔ Vlkanová ↔ Hronsek, part of the IDS BBSK network, valid from 14 December 2025

From 1 March 2025, only virtual travel cards are in use. The DPMBB transport office was permanently closed on 1 August 2025.

Children from Rakytovce attend the primary school and nursery in neighbouring Badín (1.5–2 km away).

There isn’t an ATM in Rakytovce itself — the nearest ones are in Radváň and Fončorda.

There is no GP surgery in Rakytovce — the nearest healthcare facilities are in Radváň and in the centre of Banská Bystrica.

Paediatrician (doctor specialising in children)

Local taxes and fees
It is useful for new residents to know which charges they are required to pay to the city of Banská Bystrica.
