Glass is collected from the green bins in public places. It is collected as and when they fill up, approximately once every 2–3 weeks.

Mobile collection twice a year (spring/autumn) in the city itself — the city publishes the dates on banskabystrica.sk and in the Radničné noviny newspaper.
Hazardous waste accounts for only around 1 per cent of municipal waste, but its disposal in landfill can seriously contaminate the environment.

Christmas trees

6.1. – 3.2.2026 Once a week

Place unadorned Christmas trees next to the bins for mixed household waste. The trees must be placed in a visible and accessible location for waste collection staff.

Spring clean-up: ‘For a more beautiful city’

13. – 15. 3. 2026 Stage I

Large-capacity containers in the Rakytovce area (including Radvaň, Kráľová, Pršianska terasa, Iliaš, Kremnička and Kostiviarska). The town will publish the exact locations of the containers on banskabystrica.sk before the event.

Mobile collection of hazardous waste

The council publishes the dates for the spring and autumn collections in advance on banskabystrica.sk and in the Radničné noviny newspaper. Waste can be handed in all year round at the Detox s.r.o. facility, Zvolenská cesta 139.
