Village landmarks
Landmarks and places that have shaped our village identity for centuries. Each of them has its own story.
1931 Classical-style bell tower
A brick bell tower dating from 1931, housing a bell by J.J. Knobloch from 1783 — the oldest surviving feature in the village. To this day, the bell heralds events in Rakytovce.
~1792 The Ujhelyi family mansion
A Classicist manor house dating from the late 18th century, commonly known as the ‘kaštieľ’. The residence of the original landowners of Rakytovce, with a large garden, gazebos and fruit trees. It still stands today.
1965 Na Bani Amphitheatre
A natural amphitheatre on the site of the former ‘Jozef’ mining pump. The Rakytovce Cultural Centre — a venue for festivals, theatre performances and fire brigade parades.
19. storočie A stone cross by the roadside
A traditional wayside cross — a silent witness to the lives of several generations of Rakytovce residents. A reminder of the Christian heritage and a place of pilgrimage for the local community.
1869 The Ujhelyi Family Tomb
A family crypt at the Rakytov cemetery, dating from 1869. It was damaged by an artillery shell in 1945. To this day, it is looked after by the local Riečanov family.
pred 1783 Márnica — the original wooden bell tower
The remains of the village’s oldest religious building. The original wooden bell tower in the cemetery was partially demolished in 1931 and converted into a mortuary, which is still in use today.
18. storočie Watermill (Teremov Mill)
A disused watermill on the Rakytovský stream, recorded in the Josephine mapping (1769–1784). A hub of community life in the village; in the 20th century, it was owned by the Terem family.
1957–1958 Fire station
A building constructed by the residents of Rakytovce themselves in 1,513 hours of voluntary work. A store for firefighting equipment and a hose drying room, which remains in use to this day following renovations.
1852–1929 The Bane Badín complex and the cable car
Brown coal mining at the Jozef shaft, which was 120 metres deep. The cableway ran from Rakytovce via Krásny vršok, over the cemetery and the River Hron to Vlkanová. Mining ceased in 1929.
od 19. storočia Kečka Quarry
A limestone deposit on Kečka Hill (496 m above sea level). The stone was used for road construction, flood control on the Hron River and the motorway in the 1970s. Today, it is an active quarry operated by Doprastav.
1945 The inscription ‘Provereno, mín net’
A memorial to the liberation of Rakytovce on 21 March 1945. The inscription left by Soviet soldiers on house no. 35 read ‘Checked, no mines’. The monument no longer exists.
