A hundred years of service
The Rakytovce Volunteer Fire Brigade (DHZ) celebrated the centenary of its foundation in August 2024. The brigade was founded in 1924 and has served the village’s residents continuously ever since.
From the brigade’s
history The brigade was formed on the initiative of local residents who, following a series of fires in the 1920s, recognised the need for organised fire protection. Ján Kováč became its first commander.
Centenary
celebrations The celebrations took place on 24 August 2024 at the fire station premises and included
:- A ceremonial parade of Volunteer Fire Brigade
members- Demonstrations of historical and modern fire-fighting equipment
- A firefighting attack
competition- An awards ceremony for long-serving members-
A social gathering with music
The present day
Today, the Rakytovce Volunteer Fire Brigade has 34 active members, including 8 women and 12 young firefighters. The brigade regularly takes part in district competitions and provides fire safety cover at local events.
