The Ujhelyi family mansion

A Classicist manor house dating from the late 18th century — the residence of the original landowners of Rakytovce, commonly known as the ‘kaštieľ’.

The manor house was commissioned by Gabriel Zolnay in the final third of the 18th century (before 1792). It later passed to the Ujhelyi family — the original landowners of Rakytovce, who owned the village and significantly influenced its running for centuries.

The manor house was set in extensive grounds featuring gazebos, ornamental trees and fruit trees. The Ujhelyi family donated land for the cemetery and had a family crypt built there in 1869. The last male descendant of the family was Šándor Ujhelyi.

The building still stands today and is used as a residence. It is not listed as a cultural monument, but the people of Rakytovce have long remembered it as the ‘Ujhelyi family manor house’ — a reminder of the village’s era of manorial rule.
