The National Motorway Company (NDS) has published an updated timetable for the construction of a noise barrier along the R1 expressway in the section passing through the Rakytovce district.

Length of the barrier: 850 metres
Height: 4–6 metres (depending on the section)
Expected start: summer 2026
Completion: spring 2027
What this means for residents
The noise barrier will significantly reduce noise levels for residents of the streets closest to the R1. According to noise studies, it should reduce noise by 8–12 dB, which represents a subjective reduction in volume of approximately half.
Restrictions during construction
There may be temporary restrictions on local roads during construction. We will provide information on specific restrictions well in advance.
The project is funded by the European Union under the Slovakia Operational Programme.
We will provide further information following a meeting with NDS, which is scheduled for June 2026.
