A look back at the May Day celebrations
The traditional Rakytov May Day celebrations are now behind us — and although the weather wasn’t entirely on our side in the evening, it was a wonderful day full of laughter, music and time spent together.
The afternoon at the sports ground and in the amphitheatre at Bani was lovely. There was a packed programme for the children — karaoke, a children’s disco, sports competitions, attractions and a big-screen cinema. Our firefighters also provided some of the action, with their demonstrations proving to be among the biggest draws for young and old alike. The sunny afternoon thus created exactly the atmosphere that a May Day festival should have.
In the evening, the Oldies disco party was due to take over, but shortly after it began, heavy rain set in. Despite this, our spirits remained high — and those who stayed deserve all the more thanks.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who contributed to the event: to the sponsors for their support, to the volunteers and organisers for their hard work, to the fire brigade for their demonstrations and, of course, to all the visitors who came and created the kind of atmosphere that only our district can provide. We look forward to next year.
