Na Bani Amphitheatre

The district’s cultural centre on the site of the former Jozef mining pump.

Amfiteáter Na Bani v Rakytovciach

The Na Bani Amphitheatre was built in 1965. Its name is a reminder of the village’s past — between 1837 and 1929, brown coal was mined in this area, and the Jozef mine was one of the main employers in the vicinity.

After mining operations ceased in 1929, the site lay abandoned for almost four decades. In the mid-1960s, it was decided to put the site to cultural use — a natural amphitheatre was created, which to this day serves as Rakytovce’s main cultural venue.

Annual cultural events are held here — theatre performances, concerts, fire brigade training sessions and traditional festivals. In 2025, the 730th anniversary of the first written mention of Rakytovce was celebrated here.
