Fire station
A building constructed by the residents of Rakytovce themselves — a symbol of community cooperation.
The fire station (originally known as the ‘fire equipment store’) was built between 1957 and 1958 by the residents of Rakytovce themselves. A total of 1,513 volunteer hours were worked on the construction, and the total cost amounted to 96,457 Kčs.
The building is still used today as a store for firefighting equipment and a drying room for hoses. It is situated in the centre of the village, separate from the bell tower. Following renovations in 2006 and subsequently, it remains in use.
The Rakytovce Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1924 and celebrated 100 years of continuous service in 2024. The fire station stands as tangible proof of how the people of Rakytovce, working together, managed to build the infrastructure needed to protect their village.
